The frequency of your eye exams depends on three factors:

  1. Your age
  2. Your eye health
  3. Your optometrist's recommendation

At Wichita Optometry, our optometrists want to ensure you have the best vision and eye health possible. Our Wichita eye exam is beneficial for your entire family. We invite you, your children and your parents to visit us for your initial eye exam and we can determine how often you need an eye exam after that. Our optometrists provide a thorough eye exam in Wichita for local and nearby residents. We strive to give you personalized attention, improve your vision and diagnose any eye concerns, which may change the frequency of your eye exams.

Eye Doctor in Wichita Invites You for an Eye Exam

Our optometrists at Wichita Optometry invite infants to see us for an initial eye exam at approximately 6 months of age. If your child is not showing signs of any eye challenges, we look for a return visit between the ages of 2 and 3. As your child grows, we want to examine his or her eyes again before school begins so we can set him or her up for the best possible start to learning. If your child continues to have healthy eyes, we recommend eye exams every two years. If your child is showing eye concerns such as vision challenges, we suggest an annual eye exam.

For adults who are without vision challenges, the American Optometric Association recommends eye exams every two years until the age of 60 and then annually after that. If you have a risk factor, we encourage yearly visits. Risk factors include:

  • Diabetes

  • High blood pressure

  • Family history of eye disease

  • Previous eye surgeries

  • Wearing contact lenses

  • Employment near eye hazards/chemicals

  • Taking medications with eye health side effects
